ZVO Surface Technology Days 2022
QUBUS Planning and Consultancy for Surface Technology GmbH and the IFO Institute for Surface Technology will be exhibiting at the ZVO Surface Technology Days in Leipzig

QUBUS strengthens its environmental and health and safety departments
Miriam Jacob tor Weihen has joined QUBUS Planung und Beratung Oberflächentechnik Nord GmbH in Lippstadt to strengthen the Environment and Health and Safety department. She is responsible for industrial environmental protection and authorisation procedures, and is also available as an expert point of contact for all enquiries relating to REACH.

The AwSV also has an impact on small and medium-sized enterprises
Substances that pose a risk to water can have a negative impact on the environment; therefore, to protect against water or soil pollution, there is the Plant Ordinance, or the Ordinance on Plants for Handling Substances Hazardous to Water (AwSV), which sets out in detail the protection objectives of the Water Resources Act (WHG). It is often assumed that this applies only to larger businesses and facilities, but small and medium-sized enterprises must also comply with the requirements set out therein.

IFO Academy Fire Safety Assistant Training Course
The fire safety assistant training course provides participants with a basic understanding of workplace fire safety. It also covers the safe handling and use of fire-fighting equipment to tackle fires in their early stages. During the course on 8 April, participants were able to practise using fire extinguishers and other equipment at length.
The next training session will take place on 30 September 2022 in our training rooms.
The training takes place on a Friday afternoon or morning (4 hours). In accordance with Section 10 of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and ASR A 2.2 (Technical Regulations for Workplaces), the law requires that a sufficient number of employees be trained as fire safety assistants. The required ratio is approximately 10% of the workforce.

QUBUS seminar for trainee electroplating technicians
The trainee electroplating technicians from the Schwäbisch Gmünd Vocational School attended a seminar at QUBUS on the environmental licensing requirements for electroplating plants. This seminar has been held regularly for many years and forms part of a long-standing partnership with the Technical College for Electroplating. Successful ZVO Introductory Seminar
On Tuesday 15 March, the 2.5-day ZVO introductory seminar began in Schwäbisch Gmünd. Participants learnt, refreshed or improved their basic knowledge of electroplating and surface treatment. We wish the participants every success in further developing and successfully applying the knowledge they have gained.
The next introductory seminar will take place on 18–20 October 2022 (registration deadline: 15 September 2022).
Fire safety through intelligent system design
The combination of heat sources, corrosive conditions and the transmission of electrical energy presents a high risk of fire in electroplating plants. To prevent these undesirable and costly incidents, specialised monitoring systems or the installation of fire detection and fire-extinguishing systems are recommended; these require careful planning, both for new and existing plants.
