Planning facilities efficiently
A new paint shop should be used for as long as possible without the need for major – and, above all, unplanned – adjustments. It is therefore important to take into account the challenges and critical milestones of the overall project right from the planning stage. Essentially, the planning process begins with the fundamental decision to adopt future-proof process and production technology.

Assessing risks safely with expert support
The subject of risk assessment is now covered in a wide range of regulations. The assessment of working conditions has been firmly established since the restructuring of health and safety regulations with the introduction of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (ArbSchG). Responsibility for assessing risks generally lies with the employer; however, given the complexity of the subject, the detailed planning and assessment in day-to-day working life is usually delegated to specialist staff and qualified experts.

ZVO Introductory Seminar on Electroplating and Surface Treatment Technology
Three days of valuable basic knowledge on electroplating and surface treatment technology. The ZVO – Zentralverband Oberflächentechnik e.V. is offering its 2.5-day introductory seminar at QUBUS Planung und Beratung Oberflächentechnik GmbH for anyone wishing to refresh or improve their knowledge. Particularly in engineering degree programmes, the topics of surface technology are often not given sufficient emphasis.
The next event will take place from 17 to 19 October in Schwäbisch Gmünd.

Delimitation of facilities in accordance with the Ordinance on Facilities for the Handling of Substances Hazardous to Water (AwSV)
Millions of tonnes of substances that pose a risk to water are produced, treated, used, stored, bottled or handled every year.
For installations handling water-polluting substances (wgS), the „precautionary principle“ of the Water Resources Act (WHG) means that no substances must be allowed to escape and consequently pollute water bodies or the soil. This applies both during normal operation and in the event of operational disruptions. Experience has shown that the costs of remedial action (for example, following an unnoticed operational fault or leaks from pipes and tanks) are far higher than those of targeted preventative measures to protect water bodies and soil.

QUBUS and IFO celebrate 90 years of expert know-how
At a company celebration held at the premises of QUBUS Planung und Beratung Oberflächentechnik GmbH and the IFO Institute for Surface Technology, the management congratulated seven of the company’s employees on their long-standing loyalty and commitment. Coming from different divisions of the company, the employees – Anja Franck, Ute Brunner-Bäurle, Benita Gegner, Sabine Endreß, Wiebke Schmid, Martina Reichl and Nils Paetzke – have played a key role in shaping the company’s success over the last 10 years through their dedication. With the 20th-anniversary celebration of Marc Holz, Managing Director of IFO, this brings the total combined years of expert knowledge to 90.
“The dedication that every employee has shown to the company during this time, together with their many years of professional experience and expertise, are of immense value to our group of companies, particularly in the current climate,” said Christian Deyhle, Managing Director of QUBUS. The employees celebrating their anniversaries were honoured and celebrated for their contribution to the company’s success.

Apprentice project on workplace health at IFO and QUBUS
The trainees at IFO and QUBUS have organised a fantastic and informative seminar on workplace health promotion as part of their current trainee project. Last Friday, they were given tips, exercises and information on various measures relating to health promotion. All participants were particularly impressed by the recorded interviews on the topic and the informative videos demonstrating the correct exercises to do in the workplace.

Lifelong learning
In view of the increasing intensity of global competition and a wide range of challenges, a productive and skilled workforce is becoming increasingly important for businesses. As a result of product and process innovations, workers must learn new skills and acquire additional knowledge in order to adapt to the demands of their roles.
Further training can significantly boost staff productivity. This saves time and money. Read the full article from *besser lackieren* (published in October 2022) here.

Baking components properly
Anyone who understands their oven and carries out regular measurements can save energy and improve quality. "My oven curve always looks the same," argue some powder coaters who produce a curing curve for their oven as part of a quality control process. Yet the parts to be cured can vary considerably.
